it should have come with a cd that makes it register to the computer, but if you get a ship converter which is like a regular sd card with a slot for the mini you put it in the computer and open it as a folder and you can drag and drop songs onto it thats how i did it with my bf's phone and the way i do it with my instinct

Why does everyone rant about these teen pop superstars? Does anyone else feel like they're ruining music?
Miley Cyrus, the Jonas Brothers, and all the rest of these little wannabe musicians, who don't know what it means to be a rockstar, are tearing the fabric of music at the seams and will be the downfall of music, in my opinion. I feel like the music industry is targetting these dumb little middle school girls who don't know real music just to make a profit. The music industry is no longer for the music, its for the money, and that is what's going to destroy music. The moment I heard Rolling Stone magazine believed the Jonas Brothers have as much musical charisma as the Beatles was the moment music died to me. I just want to know if anyone else feels the same way. I don't want our generation to go down in history as the destroyed of music. What happened to the sense of music that the Beatles, Pink Floyd, Grateful Dead, Led Zeppelin, The Who, Hendrix, etc, had when they were making music? We've reverted back to the boring style of music of the 1950's. I don't know about the rest of you, but as an American, I hate our ethnocentricity and it's become so that our music scene is destroying the world. This 'artist' called Candace Marie used to be a model but a record label realized she could sing so gave her a deal.
In just TWO days she went to a LA studio (with big-time producer John Shanks) and recorded eleven songs which made up her entire record in just TWO days.
She had zero creative input and saw the songs, literally, an hour before she recorded them and picked up a big pay cheque.
So what do you think of this cheap kind of music?
Would you buy it? Because somebody is.

You should get a usb cable for your phone and plug it into your computer/laptop. Then, go to your Computer or My Computer program and click on the drive that belongs to that usb cable. Then it should show folders that are labeled music, or something like that. then get mp3 files, and drag it into there. mainstream used to be good at one point, even i won't deny listening to some mainstream artists. Back in the late 90's that is. After 2003 i stopped. The progression of talentless wannabees was at a crucial stage and the end was no where in sight. I could live with all those Rap artists that were doing something right. I wouldn't listen to them, but at least they were making good success in their field. I could deal with Sean Paul and his new language, hell i could even cope with that britney spears.
But 2007 came too fast. All of the sudden there came an annoying boy named soldier. And after that it was some 14 year old from Montanan, and then it was 3 guys in love. Disaster after disaster, what is it with media and thinking they can make a kid into something they're not?

just look at the video, you don't even have to listen to it to know its about nothing important or relevant. Rant/question about arguments in Music... ?
Well, I just wanted to see your opinions on this subject... It's just that... I see so many people who use the exact same phrases to support their arguments, so much that it has become a cliche to say ';pop is corporate mainstream garbage'; or ';Kurt Cobain has raw emotion'; (yes, I do like Nirvana, and yes, Kurt was an awesome musician, but this sentence is OVERUSED, and I'm not directing it towards anyone in particular, so don't take it as an offense if you have actually written that, I'm just stating my opinion) or ';today's generation has become mindless following sheep'; and well... you get the point.
Even though I DO agree with these statements, I find it very annoying that people always seem to use the SAME words to describe it... As if they just copied it from someone else and didn't really form that opinion themselves... I'm not meaning that in a conceited way, I can't pretend to say I can write better arguments, but at least I'd TRY to...

I liked Kurt Corbain I never thought he sang from raw emotions. If you don't mind that I compare him to a fellow that wrote and sang Tears from Heaven. I liked Kurt Corbain I never thought he sang from raw emotions. If you don't mind that I compare him to a fellow that wrote and sang Tears from Heaven. This comes from a sadness that only the beholder can do. One sees a bare soul and the pain that comes from that. They stir up emotions most of us like to hide. I feel a stirring inside that is a true awakening of life. Makes one take comfort in being alive and also a longing for the ones we have lost. its sprint? chances are, you dont.... sprint gets wonderful service... but idk about how well some of it works... when i had the rumor by them the bluetooth didnt work for anything exept bluetooth headset... we called them and they said thats the way lg made them.... we switched to us cellular... got the lg rumor...bluetooth works great.... hmmm something tells me sprint wasnt exactly telling us the truth...

I got the rant a couple of weeks ago and have put music on it, about 40 songs but only like 5 of the songs show up in my music player. it shows them on the phones folder on the computer, so it can't be b/c there's not enough space, some of the songs are in a different format so i thought that might be it but i would just like to verify. Oh man transfering i-tunes music to Rant is so easy a 1 year old can do it!!! Here's how, ---%26gt; from your desk top click start in the lower left corner of your screen, click on MY MUSIC, click on i-tunes and it should open a folder containing all your i-tunes music. Find a track or song you want to put on your phone, right click on it and select copy.
Plug your samsung rant phone into your computer via the USB data cable. Once your phone is plugged into your computer, push that chrome colored square shaped menu OK button thats underneath the screen. Once you push that a menu comes up, select TOOLS and push menu OK, select mass storage and push menu OK, select connect to PC and push menu OK, a box should pop up on your computer screen, select open folder to view files, once you do that a box should open on your computer that shows whats on your phone memory card, right click on the music folder and select paste, doing this will paste your music track you previosly copied from your i-tunes music folder.
If a box doesnt show up automatically on your computer screen when you connect your phone to your PC you must click start in the lower left corner of your computer screen, select my computer and click on it, select the removable disc folder/icon labeled (F:).
Now that you have your track or song transfered to your phone I would like you to test it out before you do more! Like the music from the 60's and 70's. All rap music is to me is some idiot blabbing on a microphone while some ';sampled'; music is playing. They totally ruin good songs. They don't even attempt to play their own instruments. They just take a good song, and steal their sound. They have no talent what so ever. Hell, most of them can't even spell talent. Most of these (for lack of a better or more describing word)';artists'; are rejects that couldn't make it in the real world, so they decided to go and see a rich, white, producer and sell their souls. They want to talk about gangstas, and sex, and mf this, and anything else that these dumbasses these days think are cool. I hope with a passion, that people will stop buying and requesting this crap so it will die just like 2 pac and Biggie and countless others living that gangsta life. Oh yeah, ';Eazy-E'; died of Aids. Believe it or not, but Rap was invented by the ancient greeks. When Homer wrote the Ilyad and the Odessey he wrote them in a way that when performed, they sounded very much like modern rap. In those days there were no sophisticated drumming machines and stuff but the did have harps so they did make some music for their 'ranting'. Well, of course those lyrics were much more sophisticated and clever than modern day rap. But to answer your question, no it shouldn't be music but then I don't think many rapheads would listen to it. And these days this 'ranting' is just full of swearwords but some of them are really clever but the background noise makes it harder to listen to the words.

I couldn't agree with you more. Whoever classified rap or says it is music must have been hitting the crack pipe a little 2 hard. None of them are musically inclined at all. Most of them whine about how hard life is in their hood. Well if life is so hard then move somewhere else. The good majority of them are a bunch of goofy S.O.B's.
Most rap is crap. (Hey that should be a lyric on every rap song)... I like Atmosphere , Eminem , Will Smith %26amp; Limp Bizkit (Rap metal) but other rap is crap.
most commercial rap is rubbish, but there are some very talented people who dont get played as much... like The Roots or Common

Yea, I had the same problem. I can't explain what happened, but I kept my Rant connected via USB cord, closed a few programs, and it told me I was connected. Im assuming that the software is installed but a restart of your computer is neccessary. Hope that helped a little (at least now you wont go insane looking for a CD).

I like music, i have high standards for music and up until 2 years ago I could look at the top 10 and find a song I'd enjoy...
But the latest trend in music just bores me: the majority of songs are now dance/techno songs, the singers are now mostly synthesised and the idea of a melody and playing instruments seems to be out of the window...
I'm not saying there isn't good music out there but this dance/techno craze is just awful: in a club it would be great but there's so much more to music than singing about being 'in this club', music can capture and provoke deep emotions, sing about turmoil in the world, tell the world about yourself and this craze just is superficial....
anyway, I expect some people will disagree with me or think i'm moaning (which I kinda am) ....do people think this trend will pass to?Does anyone agree with my rant here about music lately?

I hope that trend will pass on, but I know exactly what you're talking about. There are SOME decent songs, but they usually are more towards the bottom half of the top 40 or so. Most things are only good for dancing to, which is fine, but when you're not out with friends or in a club it's basically useless.

There is around 55 years worth of popular music to listen to, so it's worth looking at older music.
Big Record companies only care about making a quick buck and creating the next big thing that they don't care about how decent the production value of their tracks they put out,They just use the medium of radio and Tv to force poorly written and poorly produced tracks on to the average person if they hear the track enough they will go out and buy it.There's no time or money invested in the exploration of music anymore that's why I believe that the garage and home producing artists will be the ones to explore and create and improve music.moisturizer cream

I tried connecting the actual phone to my computer and it didnt work either, so getting a SD card reader for the micro SD card is your best bet.

A question about metal (music) Rant?
I'm sure I sound like a broken record, but it just irks me so much when people talk about how good and ';metal'; some bands are... Argh... Why would anyone consider disturbed or emo type bands metal? Hardcore, metal core, it all bothers me... I guess if thats what they put them in, I can't help it, but it's bringing down the metal genre..

I'd like to start off by saying that I'm a very serious musician, and I listen to all kinds of music. I listen to classical, rock, jazz, country some rap (I used to hate rap, by now I'm warming up to some of it.) I listen to everything from Bach to Coltrane to REM to Radiohead to the Beatles the Bruce Springstein etc. As long as they're expressing themselves and they have something to say in their music, I'll listen to it. Now for the rant. Whenever I talk to adults about music (I'm 15) they seem to have a lot of assumptions about music. For one, they assume that the music from their generation is the best, because that's what they grew up with. While there is music from every time period that's good, it's dumb to think that your generation's is the ';best.'; They don't actually say this, but they say things like ';Music nowadays is terrible, it was so much better back in the 60's.'; Some music now is awful, but a lot of it is great, you just have to listen to the right stuff. Limitting yourself to only your generation's music is essentially the same as only listening to the new popular music nowadays. It also annoys me how these non-musical adults think they know more about music than I do, even after they find out that I'm a musician. For example, they get all surprised when I don't agree that the (fill in the blank) was the best band in history, but all this confidence has come from such a limited spectrum of knowledge. Do they have the musical attention span to listen to Tchaicovsky's 6th the whole way through without doing anything but focusing on the beauty and genius of his music? Did they ever listen to Beethoven's 4th while following along with the score, marvelling at his structural perfection and amazing thematic development? Can they even read music for that matter? Did they listen to Miles Davis's ';Kind of Blue'; and fall in love with it so much that they transcribed and memorized every one of his solos on the album? This is what musicians do, and that's why we know more about music than non-musicians, it's that simple. I would never tell a dancer that Micheal Jackson was the best dancer ever (even if that's what I thought) because they would know so much more about than me, and I'd come off as arrogant. I'm not saying all adults are like this, but a lot of them never seem to realize that I have an understanding of music that is certainly surpassed by many professional musicians, but certainly not by casual listeners who haven't so much as played a C scale on the piano. Anyone who thinks music is a battle between the generations is closed minded. It's about the pure expression that can achieved with sound. I hate it when people condemn a genre of music. Saying something like ';Classical music is boring.'; based on a very limited knowledge of the music is like saying ';All black people are criminals'; after you read about one drug deal that involved an African American in the paper. To me, they're both just as bad.Part question, part music rant, please read though?

And by ';understand,'; I mean that in two ways: First off, I mean that those genres are obviously more harmonically and rhythmically complex than common time IV V I - I don't think most people can handle much more than that. But moreover, I think those genres are the pinnacle of expression - jazz being more of a ';soul music'; and classical being more its academic counterpoint (no pun with the word ';counterpoint'; intended here), and people can't handle that. People can only handle expression when it's through lyrics that literally say ';My girlfriend broke up with me, it bad,'; or ';I love my girlfriend, it good.'; People are soulless, mindless creatures.

But I also disagree with you about musicians and non-musicians, you don't have to play an instrument to appreciate good music just as you don't have to be a dancer to appreciate good dancing and voicing their opinions on what they enjoy, which goes back to people liking to talk about themselves.
Different people have different tastes. What some people think of as genius, other people think of as awful. Most people don't actually study music, they just listen to what they enjoy so they won't necessarily know about the structure of the music. They could be just as enraged about rap, for example, as you are about their preferences. Just because they don't read music, doesn't mean that they're not entitled to their own opinions and preferences.
Personally I can't stand a lot of ';popular'; modern music and it annoys me greatly that so many ';singers'; who can barely even hold a basic melody get recording contracts so easily because they ';have the right look'; or whatever. But that doesn't mean that I (as a musician) am going to interrogate everybody who does like them.
There will, also unfortunately, always be those who simply follow the crowd. I have come across countless people who claim to be fans of certain kinds of ';music'; just because that's what happens to be in fashion at the time.
Can I HUG you - or is somebody going to file some kind of harassment paper on me for even suggesting that? You are intelligent, insightful, and you SO GET IT!!!!!!!!!!!!! There are fools everywhere, at every age - just *being over 21* does not make people wise. There are immature and ignorant people at EVERY stage in life - we just hope that young people outgrow some of their misconceptions. Some kids are raised on a steady diet of bigotry and close-mindedness - and some break free,while other do not - yes, the KKK has a *Junior Membership*! The only bigotry that I somewhat understand is that of the VERY old - who are not BAD people, but were raised with NO exposure to other ethnic groups, and repeat assumptions in some kind of benign innocence. Did you see the Clint Eastwood movie ';Gran Torino'; this year? The stuff that came out of HIS mouth, I heard from elderly relatives - but they would be the FIRST ones to tell you how great one of ';those guys'; was who worked next to you at the steelworks! They would repeat prejudices in the ABSTRACT - but the respected and were friends with the guys they worked with. My Dad's Navy Yearbook from WW2 had all the black guys in a separate section in the back - and Dad would say they they *hotbunked* on the destroyer - 3 shifts of guys all shared the same bed, every 8 hours, just grabbing their own pillow and blanket. Dad would talk about how the could not have BEEN closer workmates or friends - they slept in the same BED - but the US Navy put their pictures in the BACK of the book??? By the Korean War - every one was ALPHABETICAL. And I am sure that there were black guys from Chicago who had never worked with big Polish guys from Southie, either. My folks and 2 friends were great swing dancers - they went to Harlem one night to a club - where they were the only white people. As Dad said - they let them IN because they guy were in uniform. They let them stay all night because they could DANCE. It takes *something* to break the ice. The school I taught in was inner-city, and about 40% white, 40% black, 15% Hispanic - and there were NO race problems - kids had friends, made enemies, made groups, etc, - all color-blind. So - the future is with YOU - spread that great attitude you have. Turn your RANT into progress. Watch the movie Bullworth with Warren Beatty. Yup - Star Trek has is all wrong - by THEN - we are all going to be the same color anyway.

I don't care for most metal either, the screaming/growling just kills it for me. However, Nightwish is absolutely amazing. Xandria and Within temptation are really good also.

Sure. You can download music onto your computer and transfer them over to your rant. Just use the included usb cable to do so. The only other places i would download music from would be fun4mobile dot com and that is about it. The good part is that it's free. It sends the ringer to you as a text message. It just has a bunch of ringers and little pieces of songs not full length songs. Hope that answers the question.

I don't have that phone but you should be able to put your SD card in, go to the music section on your phone %26amp; look for something that will import your song, which will probably save it in your Music section. Then go to the place where you set what ringtone you want %26amp; shd give you an option of where to get your ringtone from.

Remove the back cover by pushing the button on the top and pulling back. On the left side you'll see a tiny card that's slid into the side. Push it in and it will click out. Put that MicroSD card in the adaptor that Sprint provided in your cell phone's original box. Now insert the adaptor into any SD card reader (most laptops have them, some PC's do, if not just buy an external, they are cheap) and it will pop up on the computer just like an external hard drive. Then just drag any music you want into the music folder!
I do suggest buying a larger card though. The one they supply is very small and 2gb or 4gb ones are wicked cheap now (like $10) on sites like newegg.com.

My fiance was raised by very conservative and christian parents, and all they listen to in the car is that fear stricken psychotic bullshit talk radio, unless they have a christian rock cd lol.
